This is one of my favorite writing pieces to date. After reading a work by Eula Biss entitled The Pain Scale, we were asked to write about something that is taken for granted or not thought about enough and reconsider its meaning. I used photography, and wrote in the stream of consciousness style I am best at, mimicking Biss's surplus of thoughts thrown together in a gripping essay. My photography essay combines the history of photography with facts and figures of its influence over people, including myself, in the present day.
