I wrote this research paper my Junior year of high school, and it remains one of my strongest persuasive essays. I aimed to take an early advocate for women's rights, the first woman elected to Congress, and a pacifist, and look at her in a negative light. Using numerous arguments against her pacifism, I wrote about all the detrimental things she did to the women's rights movement. In doing this, I differed from most people who saw her as a strong and powerful advocate for the movement in a time many did not feel they had the strength to fight. Because I shaped an argument to successfully fight against the normal view of Rankin, this was a effective persuasive essay.
